​What is a special effects make-up artist
A special effects make-up artist is part modeler, part sculptor, part painter, part chemist and part beautician. Makeup artists need to learn how to mix different chemicals to create moldable materials that are safe for close contact with skin.
They must be skilled modelers and sculptors who can create a three-dimensional alien face using character designs from the art department.
Then, they need to be able to apply that mold to an actor’s face.
They also need to be able to use more traditional makeup techniques to seamlessly blend the real and the artificial.

RESIN BUST MAKING
In this class I learned to make a mini collectible character / creature bust from clay to resin, beginning with character/creature concept design.
I learned how to pose my character to make my creature have more character with only the use of the head and shoulders.
I learned sculpting techniques, how to properly gate my sculpture utilizing a Giles Precision Waxer, to properly mold my sculpture in silicone as well as how to cast my mini bust in resin.
We finished the class with painting our bust’s in a faux finish bronze.
